Description

Fiddler on the Roof — The Barn Players & Compass Theatrical Arts. Winner of nine Tony Awards, this beloved musical follows Tevye, a poor milkman in the village of Anatevka, and his five daughters as tradition collides with a changing world in Czarist Russia. Songs include "If I Were a Rich Man," "Matchmaker," and "Sunrise, Sunset."

AUDITIONS: Saturday, November 7, 2026, 11:00 AM–5:00 PM (sign up for a time slot). CALLBACKS (by invitation only): Sunday, November 15, 5:30–9:30 PM. Both held at Prairie Baptist Church, 7416 Roe Ave, Prairie Village, KS 66208. All actors must be 7+ by audition day.

ROLES (ages are a guide; several performers play multiple roles): Tevye (M, 45–60, baritone); Golde (F, 40–50, mezzo); Tzeitel (F, 18–25, mezzo); Hodel (F, 18–23, mezzo); Chava (F, 18–20, mezzo); Shprintze (F, 9–13); Bielke (F, 8–12); Yente (F, 50–60, alto); Motel (M, 18–25, tenor); Perchik (M, 20–30, tenor); Lazar Wolf (M, 50–65, baritone); Avram (M, 40–60); Grandma Tzeitel; Fruma-Sarah; Constable (M, 35–45); Fyedka (M, 20–25, high tenor); plus ensemble (~10–12, ages 7 to adult, including two young boys 7–12).

Directed by Amy Sander; music direction by Rachel Hendrickson; choreography by Emmy Hadley. REHEARSALS begin Jan 3 (Sundays 1–4:30 PM, Mon–Thu 6–9:30 PM). PERFORMANCES at the Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center Black Box: Feb 11, 12, 13 at 7:00 PM; Feb 13 at 1:00 PM; Feb 14 at 2:00 PM. Note: pay/stipend not specified on the audition notice (volunteer community theatre).
