Green Day's AMERICAN IDIOT — book by Billie Joe Armstrong & Michael Mayer, music by Green Day, lyrics by Billie Joe Armstrong. Presented by The Barn Players. Directed by Daniel Vazquez; Music Direction by Scott Salem; Choreography by Tyler Rene Harper.

AUDITIONS: Sunday, September 27, 2026, 1:00-5:00 PM (sign up for a time slot). Callbacks by invitation only: Saturday, October 4, 6:00-10:00 PM. Both at Prairie Baptist Church, 7416 Roe Ave, Prairie Village, KS 66208.

All actors must be 18+ by the first rehearsal. Prepare a 60-90 second cut of a contemporary rock song (or a song from the show). Those auditioning for Johnny should also prepare a 30-60 second piece singing while playing acoustic guitar (guitar not provided); Tunny/Will may optionally do the guitar portion.

ROLES: Johnny (male-presenting, 20s-30s, must play guitar, B2-B4); Will (male-presenting, 20s-30s, C#3-A4); Tunny (male-presenting, 20s-30s, D3-B4); St. Jimmy (male-presenting, 20s-30s, C3-F#5); Heather (female-presenting, 20s-30s, A3-E5); Whatsername (female-presenting, 20s-30s, F#3-D#5); Extraordinary Girl (female-presenting, 20s-30s, Bb3-E5); Ensemble (any gender). Non-traditional, inclusive, equal-opportunity casting encouraged.

PERFORMANCES at the Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center Black Box, Overland Park, KS: Jan 8, 9, 11, 14, 15, 16 (7:30 PM) and Jan 10 & 17 (2:00 PM), 2027. Rehearsals begin Nov 22 (Sundays 1-6 PM, Mon-Thu 6:30-10 PM). Note: pay/stipend not specified on the audition notice (volunteer community theatre).
