kctheatre.info (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates kctheatre.info, a community hub for Kansas City–area theatre auditions and events. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

• Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address, a username, and a password. Your password is stored only as a securely hashed value — we never store or see your actual password. You may optionally add a profile bio and avatar image.
• Listings you submit. The auditions and events you post, including any details, dates, and images you provide. Submitting does not require an account; if you are logged in, a submission can be credited to your profile (you may choose to submit anonymously).
• Email preferences. Your chosen reminder/digest frequency.
• Contact form. If you use our contact form, the name, email, and message you send (processed by Formspree).
• Technical & security data. Basic server logs and login-attempt records we use to keep the site secure and prevent abuse.

Cookies

• Essential cookies. A session cookie keeps you logged in, and an optional “remember me” cookie keeps you signed in if you ask it to. These are required for the site to function.
• Advertising cookies. We display ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings or via aboutads.info.

How we use your information

• Provide and maintain your account and the listings service.
• Send transactional emails such as email verification and password resets.
• Send the favorites/digest emails you have opted into (each includes a one-click unsubscribe).
• Review and moderate submissions before they are published.
• Protect the site and its users against spam and abuse.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers that help us operate the site:

• Cloudinary — hosting for uploaded images.
• IONOS — web hosting and email delivery.
• Formspree — contact-form processing.
• Google AdSense — advertising.

Listings you submit are public by design and visible to all visitors. Please don’t include private information in a public listing.

Your email choices

Every digest email includes a one-click unsubscribe link and a link to manage your preferences. Transactional emails (verification and password reset) are not promotional and are sent as needed while you hold an account.

Your rights

You can view and update your profile, change your email preferences, or ask us to delete your account and associated personal data by emailing contact@kctheatre.info. Depending on where you live (for example, California or the EU/EEA), you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data — contact us to exercise them.

Data security

Passwords are stored using industry-standard one-way hashing (bcrypt), connections are encrypted, and database access uses prepared queries. No method of transmission or storage is ever 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above, and significant changes may be announced on the site.
