kctheatre.info is a community hub for Kansas City area theatre. It exists to answer a question that used to mean digging through a dozen websites and just as many Facebook groups - "What's going on in the KC Theatre scene right now?" - hopefully, this can help centralize events, auditions, opportunities, and more and help bring things directly to you, giving you more time on the craft.

What you can do here

• Browse auditions. Filter current audition listings by payment, equity status, and audition type, in either list or calendar view.
• Browse events. Find workshops, classes, panels, and networking nights from across the metro.
• Browse opportunities. The opportunities board is a catch-all for other gigs, jobs, requests, and more, including postings that do not have a date set yet.
• Post your own. Submit an audition, an event, or an opportunity in a couple of minutes. You do not need an account to submit, but if you are logged in, the listing can be credited to your profile (or posted anonymously, your choice).
• Save favorites. Registered users can heart any listing and find it again on their favorites page.
• Get email digests. Opt in to a daily or weekly email with your saved listings and anything new posted since your last one. Every digest has a one-click unsubscribe.

How listings work

Every submission is reviewed by a human before it appears on the site, typically within 48 hours. That keeps the listings relevant to KC theatre and keeps the spam out. Approved listings expire automatically once their dates have passed, so what you see is what is actually still open.

Listings are provided by the community, and we do not independently verify every detail. If you spot an error in a listing, tell us and we will fix it - see the Terms of Use for the full picture.

What it costs

Nothing. Posting an audition, an event, or an opportunity is free, browsing is free, and an account is free. The site is paid for out of pocket and offset by a small number of ads, sponsor banners from local theatres, and voluntary donations from people who find it useful. There is no plan to put listings behind a paywall.

Who runs it

kctheatre.info is a one-person project. The same person writes the code, reviews every submission that comes in, answers the contact form, and pays the hosting bill. It started as a practical fix for a real problem - audition notices scattered far across the web, impossible to search, passed on by the time you finally see them - and is maintained mostly on evenings and weekends.
